Propane cylinders should be stored upright in a ventilated space away from other fuels and chemicals. The protective cap or plug should be in place on the service valve and the storage area should protect the cylinder from tampering or damage. No sources of ignition should be present and the area should never be allowed to reach a temperature in excess of 125F (52C). The cylinders should also be protected from possible vehicular damage.
